The Infrared Sauna Blanket

How do I use my Sun Home Saunas Infrared Sauna Blanket?

We recommend starting at 55ºC for 30 minutes and slowly working your way up to 45 minutes (by increments of 5 minutes) until you feel comfortable. Then, every few times you use it, increase the temperature by 5ºC. Once you get to the maximum temperature for 45 minutes, then you can start going up by 5 minutes until you arrive at the maximum time (60 min). Keep in mind, some people prefer it at full heat for shorter periods of time, whereas others prefer lower heat for longer periods of time. You will still enjoy the benefits, this just comes down to personal preference on what feels best in your body!

What is “far infrared”?

Infrared heat is everywhere in nature, and far infrared is the portion of the infrared spectrum between 3000 nm and .1 mm wavelengths. Our Infrared Sauna Blankets emit far infrared rays, which are shown to detox the body 7x deeper than traditional saunas. The infrared heat is shown to help with weight loss, increased longevity, lowered risk of disease, stress relief & relaxation, improved skin health and anti-aging, immunity boost, chronic pain reduction and overall boost in mood.

What are the Infrared Sauna Blankets made of?

Non-toxic, low-VOC, waterproof polyurethane.

What is the return policy on the Infrared Sauna Blanket?

Sun Home Saunas stands by our products and we’re confident they will improve your quality of life. We are proud to offer a 30-day, risk-free return policy. If you are not completely satisfied with your Infrared Sauna Blanket, please visit this link to apply for your return. For more information, please see our return policy.

What comes in the box?

Your Infrared Sauna Blanket, canvas carrying bag, instruction booklet, controller, power cord, and connecting cords are all included in the box.

Will I still sweat as much as I do in a regular sauna, since my face is outside the blanket?

Yes, you will get a great sweat in, and you will still sweat from your face since your body’s core temperature will be heated. Some people prefer these blankets to actual saunas because their heads don’t overheat so the experience can be more enjoyable.

What options do I have in terms of temperature and timing?

The controller allows you to adjust the temperature from 35°C to 75°C and you can adjust the timer from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your desired heat and length of your session.

How do I clean my Infrared Sauna Blanket?

Cleaning your Infrared Sauna Blanket is very easy. We recommend using a household anti-bacterial spray and wipe down the blanket after every use. A homemade solution of vinegar with tea tree, lavender and/or thyme essential oil works great as well.

Can I travel with my Infrared Sauna Blanket?

Yes, your Infrared Sauna Blanket is easily foldable and can fit under a bed, into a suitcase, or in a car. The canvas carrying bag included with all Infrared Sauna Blanket V5 purchases makes traveling with your blanket a piece of cake. If traveling to a different country, please adapt to the appropriate voltage and connector type.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! We ship our Infrared Sauna Blankets world-wide!

What are the electrical power requirements of the Infrared Sauna Blanket?

The blankets run on: a)Standard 120V, 60hz electrical current (US/Canada model) b)Standard 230V, 50hz electrical current (UK and EU models). The appropriate version will be sent based on your shipping country. Use of the product with a different electrical source or the use of voltage converters in countries that do not use these standards are at the user's own risk and the safety of doing so has not been investigated by Sun Home Saunas.

How long will my blanket take to heat up?

Only 10 to 15 minutes!

Do the blankets have a warranty?

Yes! There is a complete 1-year warranty on all components of the blanket.

Sauna and Wood Types

Which type of sauna is better, infrared or traditional?

No type of sauna is definitively better than another; it really comes down to personal preference. The key difference in the two main types of saunas are the operating temperature and the modality of which your body is heated. Traditional saunas can get up to 220º F, whereas infrared saunas are usually set for 150º F. Although some people prefer the very hot experience of traditional saunas, infrared heat penetrates more deeply into the body, providing stronger benefits at lower temperatures. This allows you to stay in the sauna longer as you can heat up from the inside out, experiencing a deep sweat without feeling overheated. The infrared heat resonates at the cellular level providing deep levels of detoxification and other health benefits.

General Sauna Information

How long is the warranty on my Sun Home® infrared sauna?

Residential: Limited lifetime (7 years for indoor and 6 years for outdoor)
Commercial: 5 years on cabinetry and heaters; 1 year on controls, bench, floor, and backrest.

See Warranty Information for details.

Will I need to hire an electrician?

Depending on the size and model of the sauna, you may need an electrician to wire a dedicated line, as you would if you were installing a common household appliance, like a washing machine. Please review the “specifications” tab on the product page for your particular unit, and provide your electrician with appropriate voltage and amperage required for the circuit.

Is infrared heat safe?

Infrared heat is extremely safe and our saunas in particular have virtually zero ELF/EMF. Infrared heat is so safe that hospitals actually use comparable heaters to warm newborns. Infrared is a part of nature and essential for life, and Sun Home offers the highest quality heaters available.

Can I put my Sun Home infrared sauna outside?

Our indoor models aren't designed for outdoor climates, but you may use them in an inclosed porch. If you do place an indoor sauna outside, you will need to purchase a cover to protect the warranty. Our sauna covers are custom made.

How is my sauna shipped?

Your sauna will generally be delivered 7-10 days from the date it leaves the warehouse in the United States. The sauna comes on a pallet and is easily assembled within 90-120 minutes on average. We recommend having a friend help you out. When your sauna is ready to be delivered, our freight partner will call you to confirm a drop off date and delivery time. Your sauna will be delivered by a freight truck with a lift gate to mitigate any potential damage and ensure an easy drop-off experience. The driver will transport your sauna off of the vehicle with a pallet jack and move it to your front door or desired entrance point. Once the sauna is dropped off, simply open the packages and boxes, fit the wall panels into the right place, and connect the heaters. Customers report that assembling the sauna is very similar to building furniture - no power tools or construction experience are required.

How do I maintain my Sun Home® infrared sauna?

Sun Home® infrared saunas require very little maintenance and cleaning. The high quality wood is anti-bacterial and self-cleansing and the enclosed cabins protect the inside from dust and dirt. It is best to treat the exterior of the sauna like any piece of high quality furniture. You can always wipe the interior down with a disinfectant spray. Stains from sweating may develop over the years. They do not affect the performance of your sauna, however, you can always easily remove them with light sanding.

What type of base does my Sun Home® infrared sauna require?

You can install your sauna anywhere in your house, garage, deck, patio, yard, etc. as long as the floor is solid and level. Please pay attention to any weight loading limits of the desired surface when the sauna is filled to capacity with people.

How much does it cost to operate the electric heater?

All our sauna heaters operate efficiently at either 120V or 220V. This would compare to an electric oven or clothes dryer. Unlike a hot tub that you would keep on on all the time, Sun Home® infrared saunas only take power when you are using them. Due to the efficiency of Sun Home' infrared heaters, the typical cost for operating a sauna is around 30 cents per session.

What is Red Light Therapy?

Red and near-infrared light therapy is also known as PBM (photobiomodulation). PBM involves the use of specific wavelengths of natural light in the mid-600 and mid-800 nanometer wavelengths to enhance the health and function of our cells without any harmful UV rays, excess heat, or negative effects. Light therapy is among the earliest recorded healing modalities. Solar therapy was first used by the Egyptians, and forms of light therapy were also practiced by the ancient Greeks, Chinese and Indians. Thereʼs no question that light exerts biological effects. In fact, your body needs light to be healthier.

Is Red Light Therapy safe?

Red Light Therapy is a non-invasive medical treatment that is free of harmful UV rays, so it is completely safe for your skin and doesn’t harm your eyes. Unlike potentially damaging tanning beds or other treatments, red light therapy delivers beneficial and healing light. Red light therapy is widely studied and known to be one of the most effective modalities for healing the body and energizing your body's cells.

How does RLT work?

Sun Home's red light therapy delivers therapeutic red and near-infrared light wavelengths to penetrate 5mm deep into the body and your skin providing powerful recovery and wellness benefits. As your body absorbs the natural and healing light rays, the body's mitochondria (powerhouse of the cell) is stimulated and creates energy for a variety of wellness properties (skin rejuvenation, inflammation reduction, sleep improvement, hair health, etc).

How long does it take to work?

Users begin to see results from Red Light Therapy as soon as the first treatment, however the dramatic “life-changing” improvements such as enhanced skin health, increased energy, improved hormonal health and increased quality of sleep may take 8-12 weeks of consistent use. Using your device every day will maximize the rate of response and healing. It is very important to be consistent with red light therapy. We recommend using your Sun Home Red Light Therapy device at least four times per week and for 10-20 minutes.

How do I use a Sun Home Red Light Therapy device?

Using your new Red Light Therapy device is very easy and safe. Turn on your Red Light Therapy, select the preferred mode (red light, infrared, or both), set your timer (up to 20 minutes per session), and hit that go button! There's no setup, mess, or cleanup, just effective and therapeutic red light. With only a few sessions per week you will begin to notice the powerful medicinal and healing benefits of the red light.

Is Red Light Therapy use supported by proven and studied research?

Absolutely. Red light wavelengths have been included in over 400 human trials and 4,000 professional lab studies! There have been thousands of peer-reviewed medical studies that have been conducted over the past 30 years. Red Light Therapy has been proven to be one of the most effective non-invasive therapeutic treatments on the planet. Read more about the benefits of red light therapy on our blog!

Why can't I see all of the LEDs working?

Near-infrared light is actually not visible to the naked human eye. It is outside of the visual spectrum, and as a result, it cannot be seen. However, there is a very slight glow that comes from the LEDs, especially in dark conditions, so if you are concerned the near-infrared LEDs are really not working, you can test them that way.

Should I wear eye protection?

Eye protection is not required or necessary. However, we don’t recommend looking directly at the LEDs because it can sometimes be uncomfortable. With that said, your eyes typically become accustomed to the light and it is then OK to open your eyes, as long as you don’t feel uncomfortable.

What is the wavelength of Sun Home’s Red Light Therapy?

The new Pro model is a combo of red light 660nm and near infrared 850nm light. Red light at 660nm is absorbed at a higher proportion by skin tissue, making it especially effective for boosting skin health and increasing collagen production. Near Infrared light is at 850nm, and this wavelength is actually outside of the visual spectrum. It appears as if the near-infrared light is not working, but they just canʼt be seen by the naked eyes. Near infrared light has a particularly strong ability to penetrate deeper into the tissue, organs and joints, making it ideal for enhancing muscle recovery and reducing joint pain.

Does Red Light Therapy interfere with the medications?

Red and near-infrared light therapy has been proven in thousands of clinical studies and peer reviewed clinical trials to be not only safe but also effective. However, if you use medications such as Tetracycline, Digoxin, Retin A, and/or other photo-sensitizing drugs, we recommend consulting with your doctor or health care provider before using the device.

Can I wear clothing during my treatment sessions?

Of course, just make sure that the area that you’re treating is completely exposed.

No, you do not need to change the water often, approximately once every month depending on usage. Our plunges are equipped with ozone sanitization and a micron filter which help keep the water clear for long periods of time.

Do the plunges come with covers?

Yes, covers are included, which help keep the water cold and clean.

How easy is the setup process?

The setup process is straightforward for both products. For the inflatable plunge, simply inflate the tub with air, attach the connections, connect the hoses, fill it with water, and plug the chiller into a grounded outlet.

Is the inflatable tub reliable?

Yes, the tub is reliable. It is made of military-grade drop stitch polyester fabric, the same material used in inflatable paddle boards and kayaks. This material provides rock-solid rigidity, capable of supporting 200 pounds on its edge without bending or spilling. Thanks to its durable design, the tub generally requires minimal maintenance. However, it may be necessary to top up the air once every few months, depending on the local conditions and usage.

Will my electric bill increase?

The electricity consumption of our cold plunges is influenced by several factors, including the ambient temperature, the desired water temperature setting, exposure to direct sunlight, frequency of switching between cold and hot modes, and local electricity rates. Moreover, the unit can be programmed to minimize the duration it operates at the coldest or hottest temperature, resulting in substantial energy savings. As a general estimate, we anticipate the daily cost of operating the plunges to be below $1, allowing for cost-effective usage and enjoyment of the tub.

How are the plunges shipped?

The inflatable col plunge product is shipped to your front door. The cold plunge pro is shipped in a crate curbside. We recommend at least two people to handle and move the components.

How loud is the chiller?

Most of the time, when the water is in the desired range, the chiller does not need to run and the unit is nearly silent. When cooling or heating the water, the chillers give off about the same amount of noise as a window AC unit, or roughly 62 decibels at 3 feet.

How long does it take to inflate the tub?

The included dual-action manual air pump it takes roughly 2-3 minutes to inflate the tub. You may also use an electric pump to inflate it within seconds.
