Finnleo Infrared Sauna Recall (2026): Fire Hazard and Models

Published October 26, 2026

Last verified: October 26, 2026 (both agency notices, Sauna360's recall pages and four finnleo.com pages re-read on that date; first checked October 21, 2026).

Disclosure: Sun Home Saunas makes and sells infrared saunas and competes with Finnleo. Every fact about the recall in this article is cited to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Health Canada, or Sauna360's and Finnleo's own published pages, with a numbered source you can click to check.

Is there a Finnleo infrared sauna recall?

Yes. On September 17, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada announced a recall of Finnleo infrared and hybrid saunas and infrared kits because their infrared panels can short circuit and overheat, creating a fire and burn hazard. Owners are told to stop using the saunas and wait for a free in-home repair. [1][2]

Official notices: CPSC Recall 26-784 and Health Canada RA-82120. Owner registration: Sauna360's infrared recall page, 866-936-5962 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, or recall@sauna360.com. [1][2][4]

The recall is a Sauna360 action that spans Finnleo and seven other brand names on the notice. Across all of them it covers about 41,580 saunas and kits in the United States and about 6,758 in Canada, sold over thirteen years, with 67 reports of overheating, melting, charring or burning and no injuries reported; the notices publish no Finnleo-only breakdown. Every infrared model name and kit control on the four finnleo.com pages we reviewed appears on the notice. Between our October 21 and October 26 checks, Finnleo removed four S-Series models from its S-Series pages and a "safest technology" line from its category page, and added no recall notice. The only remedy offered is a repair, and as of this writing Sauna360 says it cannot give a parts timeline. [1][2][5][6][7][8][9]

Which Finnleo saunas are recalled

CPSC recall 26-784 lists the following Finnleo products by series and model number. We checked each series against finnleo.com on October 21 and again on October 26, 2026. [1][6][7][8]

Finnleo series Models named in the recall What it is Status on finnleo.com, October 26, 2026
IS Series (InfraSauna) IS44, IS44-15, IS44-20, IS440-15, IS440-20, IS565 Hybrid rooms with infrared panels plus a traditional electric heater IS440 and IS565 listed, with no recall notice on the page (unchanged since October 21)

On October 21 the page listed six (S-810 through S-870) and the S-880 had its own product page; the S-825, S-840 and S-870 are no longer shown and the S-880 address now opens the S-Series page

Sentinel Hybrid Sentinel Hybrid 2-20, Sentinel Hybrid 3 Hybrid room Not shown on the lineup pages we reviewed
Custom and semi-custom infrared kits Infralogic control Panel kits for custom-built infrared rooms Custom infrared saunas still offered
Custom and semi-custom InfraSauna kits Saunalogic control Panel plus heater kits for custom hybrid rooms Custom InfraSaunas still offered

Who is actually covered. A model name on the notice is the first test, not the last. The CPSC scopes the recall to units sold from May 2013 through July 2026 (Health Canada: January 2013 to August 2026), and the CPSC says Sauna360 confirms individual units by serial number, found under the lower bench or on the wall under the upper bench. A room delivered after the sales window, or a unit that has already had the new boards and fuses installed, is a question for Sauna360's serial check; a product listing does not settle it either way. And a model coming off Finnleo's lineup page changes nothing for the people who own one: the recall follows the product, not the catalog. [1][2][5]

Two things stand out in the list itself. It is not a subset: every S-Series model Finnleo has shown on its S-Series page this month, the S880, both InfraSauna rooms and both custom kit controls appear on the notice. And the same S-Series model numbers appear on the notice under the Tylohelo and "No Brand" names (Helo lists the S820 and S870), so the S-Series is sold under several badges. The notice does not say whether those rooms share construction, and we do not claim it. [1][7][17]

What the notice does not name: Finnleo traditional heater-only rooms, outdoor saunas and electric sauna heaters. If you own one of those, this recall does not cover it. [1]

What Finnleo changed on its website during the recall, and what it did not

We reviewed four Finnleo pages on October 21, 2026, thirty-four days after the recall, and again on October 26: the infrared category page, the S-Series page, the InfraSauna page and the IS440 product page. Everything in this section is limited to those four pages plus the archived copies cited. Finnleo has published no statement explaining any of the changes below, and we do not claim to know why they were made. What we can show is the order in which things happened. [6][7][8][9][18][19]

Change log: October 12 to October 26, 2026

S-Series page line "The safest, best infrared sauna is also portable and ready to plug-in" Present Still present, on the same page as three models that are all on the recall notice [1][7]
Category page's count of S-Series sizes "6 portable room sizes" Still says 6 while the S-Series page shows 3 [6][7]
Recall notice, stop-use warning or banner on any of the four pages None None [6][7][8][9]
Footer link labeled Recall Points off-site to sauna360.com Unchanged [6][7][8][9]

What was removed, and what was not

In the five days between our checks, Finnleo edited both of the pages that carry its infrared safety claims. It removed four of the seven recalled S-Series models from its S-Series pages and the line inviting shoppers to enjoy "the safest technology available" from the category page. It left up the heading "Your safety, first," the claim that Finnleo remains the safety leader in infrared saunas, and the S-Series line calling its product "the safest, best infrared sauna," each now sitting on the same pages as models that are on a federal fire-hazard recall. Finnleo's safety case on those pages is about electromagnetic fields: a proprietary low-EMR/EF design, a figure under 2 mG and verification by Intertek. The hazard on the recall notice is a different thing, infrared panels that can short circuit and overheat, and none of the four pages addresses it before or after the edits. [1][6][7][18][19]

The three S-Series models still shown, the two InfraSaunas and both custom kit controls are all on the notice. Taking the S-825, S-840, S-870 and S-880 off the S-Series pages does not take them off the recall; owners of those models are covered exactly as before and should register with Sauna360. [1][7]

Still no on-page recall notice, thirty-nine days in

  • The infrared category page shows no recall notice, no stop-use warning and no banner. It still closes with an invitation to shop today and sauna tomorrow. [6]
  • The S-Series page lists three models named on the notice, each with a button to view the product, and no notice. [7]
  • The InfraSauna page lists the IS440 and IS565, each with a button to view the product, and no notice. [8]
  • The IS440 product page describes the room, lists its specifications, offers a dealer-locator button and carries no notice. [9]

On each of the four pages, the only reference to the recall is a footer link labeled Recall that points to sauna360.com rather than to a Finnleo page. Finnleo found time between October 21 and October 26 to edit its lineup and its safety copy; it did not add a sentence telling a shopper that the model names on screen are on a federal fire-hazard recall. [6][7][8][9]

What the pages do not say about new units

Sauna360's recall index describes the action as a shipment pause plus a voluntary recall of installed and delivered saunas. [3] Radiant Health, a separate brand that sells Sauna360-built rooms, tells its buyers that new orders ship with the safety enhancement installed. [13] The four Finnleo pages say nothing either way about whether the rooms they still market differ from the rooms on the notice, and nothing about why four models came off the lineup. That matters because the CPSC notice states that federal law prohibits selling products subject to a recall undertaken in consultation with the agency, and a buyer cannot tell from these pages which side of that line a given unit sits on. Ask the dealer in writing. [1][7][8][9]

What the repair is, and what Finnleo owners are not getting

The remedy on the CPSC notice is one word: repair. Sauna360's recall FAQ describes the plan as new circuit boards on every sauna, with a new fuse connected to every panel of every room, regardless of brand or model. [1][5] That is a control-board and per-panel-fuse retrofit across roughly 48,000 rooms in two countries, each one an in-home visit by an authorized technician. Radiant Health says the service is typically under an hour per unit and names National Service Alliance as the scheduling provider. [13]

Here is what owners are not getting:

  • A date. Asked when parts will be available, Sauna360's FAQ answers: "Currently, we are unable to provide an exact timeline." Owners are told to stop using a $6,000 to $13,000 appliance until a technician arrives, with no date attached. [1][5]
  • A refund, replacement or credit program. The published remedy is the free repair. Neither agency notice nor Sauna360's 22-question FAQ announces a refund, replacement or credit option, and the FAQ's answer for an owner who does not want the repair offers no alternative beyond not using the sauna. [1][2][5]
  • A dated statement from Finnleo. Radiant Health posted a stop-use notice to its customers on August 7, 2026, six weeks before the CPSC notice, followed by an update from its CEO on August 27 and a CPSC scheduling update on September 11. [13] We found no dated Finnleo statement on the four pages we reviewed on either date, or in a search of finnleo.com. [6][7][8][9]

The Sauna360 recall timeline

Finnleo is a brand of Sauna360 Inc. of Cokato, Minnesota, a Masco Corporation subsidiary whose products also carry the Tylö, Helo, Saunatec, Tylohelo, Amerec and Polar names on the recall notices, and which supplies the rooms Radiant Health sells. [1][2][6][12][13] Across the two agencies, Sauna360 has been the subject of five recall notices in twelve months covering two separate defects, and one of those notices records that the company's first repair did not work. [3][10][11]

  1. October 2025. Sauna360 recalled about 1,000 Tylö Halmstad and Kiruna Hybrid rooms because the benches could collapse. The company had seven reports of benches breaking, including one consumer with head and neck injuries. The fix was a hardware retrofit by a professional installer plus a revised manual with a weight limit. [3]
  2. September 17, 2026. The CPSC published an expansion of that bench recall to about 6,000 rooms with a line that is rare in a recall notice: "The previous recall repair was ineffective." Owners who had already received the 2025 repair were told to stop using their saunas again. The expansion reports 77 additional bench failures and six injuries. [10][12]
  3. September 17, 2026, the same day. The CPSC and Health Canada infrared fire-hazard notices covering about 48,000 rooms and kits across all Sauna360 brands, the subject of this article. [1][2]
  4. October 13, 2026. Health Canada published its own bench recall covering the 246 Halmstad and Kiruna Hybrid rooms sold in Canada, with nine incident reports as of October 5. [11]

Two notes for accuracy. The Tylö Kiruna Hybrid 2 and 3 appear on both the bench recall and the infrared recall, and the expanded bench count appears to include the original 1,000 rooms (the 2026 serial ranges contain the 2025 ranges), so the units across these notices cannot simply be added together. [1][3][10][11] And the bench recall is a Tylö matter, not a Finnleo one; we include it because the same company, the same country of manufacture and the same remedy process now sit behind both. [1][10][11]

What to do if you own a Finnleo infrared sauna or InfraSauna

  1. Stop using it. Both agencies say so, and Sauna360's FAQ offers no alternative remedy. Sauna360 has not told owners to unplug or remove the room; Radiant Health, relaying the same program's guidance for its own rooms, says disconnection is not required but that owners should cut power and contact Sauna360 if they notice an unusual smell, discoloration or signs of overheating. [1][2][5][13]
  2. Find the serial number. It is under the lower bench or on the wall under the upper bench, depending on the unit. For a custom room built with Finnleo panels, look for the words Infralogic or Saunalogic on the control or in the manual. [1]
  3. Register with Sauna360. Use Sauna360's infrared recall page, which links the online form, or call 866-936-5962 on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, or email recall@sauna360.com. Registration asks for your name, current address, phone, email, model and serial number. No proof of purchase is required; the recall follows the product, so second-hand owners and commercial users in gyms, spas, studios and rentals are covered. [4][5][13]
  4. Own an S-825, S-840, S-870 or S-880? Those models no longer appear on Finnleo's lineup page, but they remain on the recall notice. Register exactly as above. [1][7]
  5. Bought at Costco? Costco is named on the notice as a seller, not as a party to the remedy. Register with Sauna360, not the store. [1]
  6. Keep a written record of the date you registered and every contact afterward. If the company is unresponsive about the remedy, the CPSC publishes a recall complaint form for that situation on the notice page. [1]
  7. Report any incident. If your room ever overheated, melted, charred or burned, report it at SaferProducts.gov in the United States or through Health Canada's incident form, even if Sauna360 already knows. The incident counts on the notices come from the company's own reports. [1][2]
  8. If you are mid-purchase, get it in writing from the dealer whether the unit being delivered carries the new circuit boards and per-panel fuses described in the recall remedy. [5]

What to verify before buying any infrared sauna now

  • Check the recall databases at CPSC.gov and Health Canada for the brand and for the importer behind it. As this recall shows, the name on the door (Finnleo, Helo, Radiant Health) and the name on the notice (Sauna360) can differ. [1][2]
  • Ask for the product safety listing: an ETL or UL mark with a file number you can look up, and the standard it was tested to. UL 875 (electric dry-bath heaters) and ANSI/UL 60335-2-53 (sauna heating appliances and infrared cabins) are the standards that cover this category. A low-EMF certificate is not a product safety listing. [20][21]
  • Ask how the panels are protected against a short circuit. Per-panel overcurrent protection is the fix Sauna360 is now retrofitting into roughly 48,000 rooms. It should be designed in from the start, not added after a recall. [5]
  • Ask for the EMF report with the lab's name, method and measurement distances, not a single marketing number.
  • Ask for cabin-air (VOC) testing. Heated wood, adhesives and electronics all off-gas, and a brand that has tested should be able to show the report.
  • Get it in writing whether the unit you are buying shares a design with any recalled unit, and whether it includes the recall fix.

Where Sun Home stands

Since you are reading this on our site, here is our own record, held to the same standard. We keep the electrical-safety evidence separate from our other testing, because an EMF or air-quality report says nothing about fire protection.

Electrical safety

  • A search of CPSC recall listings on October 21 and again on October 26, 2026 returned no recall naming Sun Home Saunas. [14]
  • Our indoor infrared cabins are ETL Listed for the United States and Canada through Intertek, with RoHS compliance. The certifications are listed on our sauna safety testing page. [15]

Other published testing (not evidence about fire protection)

  • Our EMF figures come from a named lab report, Vitatech VTE-3534, with distances stated: 0.6 to 4.0 mG at one foot, 0.4 to 1.8 mG at two feet and 0.3 to 0.9 mG at three feet, measured under load. The summary is published in full on our low-EMF explainer. [15][16]
  • Our cabin-air sample was collected by VERT Environmental in April 2026 and analyzed by an AIHA-accredited laboratory using EPA method TO-15, returning 27 µg/m³ total target compound concentration for the sampled indoor cabin. The full report is linked on the safety testing page. [15]

If the recall has you comparing brands, our head-to-head Sun Home vs Finnleo comparison and our guide to the best alternatives to Finnleo saunas put specs, pricing and evidence side by side, and the Equinox and Eclipse pages carry the published electrical and testing records for our indoor cabins.

Bottom line

Finnleo markets itself as the safety leader in infrared saunas. The record as of October 26, 2026: every infrared model name on the four Finnleo pages we reviewed appears on a CPSC fire-hazard recall that spans thirteen years of Sauna360 sales across eight brand names, about 48,000 rooms and kits and 67 overheating reports in total; the published remedy is a repair with no parts timeline, and no refund or replacement program has been announced. In the five days between our checks, Finnleo removed four recalled models and a "safest technology" line from its pages, kept its "safety leader" and "safest, best infrared sauna" claims, and still did not post a recall notice. If you own one, stop using it, register with Sauna360 today, and let its serial check settle whether your unit is covered. If you are shopping, verify the safety listing, the panel protection and the recall record of any brand before you buy. [1][2][5][6][7][8][9][18][19]

Finnleo recall FAQ

Which Finnleo saunas are recalled?

The IS Series (IS44, IS44-15, IS44-20, IS440-15, IS440-20, IS565), the S Series (S810, S820, S825, S830, S840, S870, S880), the Sentinel 3, the Sentinel Hybrid 2-20 and Sentinel Hybrid 3, and custom or semi-custom infrared and InfraSauna kits built on the Infralogic or Saunalogic controls. [1]

Is my specific Finnleo sauna affected?

If its model is on the list and it was sold between May 2013 and July 2026 (January 2013 to August 2026 per Health Canada), treat it as affected and stop using it. Sauna360 confirms individual units by serial number, which is under the lower bench or on the wall under the upper bench. [1][2]

How many Finnleo saunas are affected?

The notices do not say. The published totals, about 41,580 units in the United States and 6,758 in Canada, cover every brand on the notice, and no Finnleo-only count has been released. [1][2]

Did Finnleo remove the recalled models from its website?

Partly, and without a notice. Between October 21 and October 26, 2026, four of the seven recalled S-Series models (S-825, S-840, S-870 and S-880) came off Finnleo's S-Series pages. The three that remain, both InfraSaunas and both custom kit controls are all on the recall notice, and none of the four pages we reviewed carries a recall notice. Removal from the lineup does not affect the recall; owners of the removed models should register with Sauna360. [1][7][8][9][17][18]

Why were Finnleo infrared saunas recalled?

The infrared panels can short circuit, causing them to overheat, which the CPSC describes as a fire and burn hazard. Sauna360 has received 67 reports of overheating, melting, charring or burning across the brands on the notice. [1][2]

Has anyone been hurt?

No injuries have been reported on either agency notice. The CPSC lists 67 incident reports in the United States and internationally, and Health Canada lists 5 in Canada as of September 10, 2026. [1][2]

Can I keep using my Finnleo infrared sauna until it is repaired?

No. Both agencies and Sauna360's own FAQ tell owners to stop using the sauna immediately and not to use it until the remedy has been installed. [1][2][5]

Will Finnleo refund or replace my sauna?

The published remedy is a free in-home repair. The CPSC notice, the Health Canada notice and Sauna360's FAQ do not announce a refund or replacement program. [1][2][5]

How long will the repair take to schedule?

Sauna360 says it cannot provide an exact timeline for parts. Once parts are available, an authorized technician is supposed to contact you to schedule the visit. [5]

Are Finnleo traditional saunas or heaters recalled?

No. The notice names infrared rooms, hybrid InfraSauna rooms and infrared kits. Finnleo traditional heater-only rooms, outdoor saunas and electric heaters are not named. [1]

I bought my Finnleo sauna at Costco. Who do I contact?

Sauna360, not Costco. The notice names Costco only as a place the saunas were sold; Sauna360 Inc. of Cokato, Minnesota is the importer running the remedy. Call 866-936-5962 or email recall@sauna360.com. [1]

Is this Sauna360's first recall?

No. Sauna360 recalled about 1,000 Tylö Halmstad and Kiruna Hybrid rooms in October 2025 for benches that could collapse, expanded that recall to about 6,000 rooms on September 17, 2026 after the CPSC found the first repair ineffective, and Health Canada published a Canadian bench recall on October 13, 2026. [3][10][11]

Does the recall cover saunas in gyms, spas or rentals, or a sauna I bought used?

Yes. The remedy follows the product, not the original purchaser. Sauna360's FAQ asks second-hand owners to register and asks sellers to pass along the current owner's contact details. Radiant Health, which sells Sauna360-built rooms, confirms the recall applies in commercial and shared settings. [5][13]

Is a new Finnleo infrared sauna safe to buy right now?

Sauna360 describes the action as a shipment pause plus a recall of installed and delivered saunas, and Radiant Health says its new orders ship with the safety enhancement. The Finnleo pages we reviewed say nothing about whether the units they market include the fix, so get a written answer from the dealer before you pay. [3][7][13]

We will revise sooner if Sauna360 publishes a parts timeline, either agency revises the unit or incident counts, a refund or replacement option is announced, or finnleo.com changes its infrared listings or adds an on-page recall notice.
