Equinox Saunas

Last updated: July 2, 2026

The Equinox is Sun Home's full-spectrum infrared sauna line, featuring Sun Home's own True Wave™ full-spectrum heating system. Available in 2-Person and 3-Person configurations, the Equinox combines high-output FIR (far-infrared) heaters with full-spectrum panels for a complete infrared experience. Built-in chromotherapy and a premium Bluetooth sound system round out the cabin.

The Equinox runs on a standard 120V 20A circuit. No 240V wiring required. Do NOT install on a GFCI or AFCI breaker — these will trip during normal operation. See the electrical section below.

Key Features

  • Full-spectrum infrared: far, mid, and near-infrared wavelengths delivered together
  • High-emissivity heaters — up to 3x more powerful than the average competitor
  • Built-in chromotherapy (colored light therapy)
  • Premium Bluetooth audio sound system with streaming support
  • Virtually zero EMF output
  • Wood: Eco-certified Kiln Dried Eucalyptus
  • Operating range: up to ~155°F (typical operating ~150°F)
  • Session time: 10–40 minutes

Electrical Requirements

The Equinox 2-Person and 3-Person have different electrical draws — confirm the model before wiring.

Equinox 2-Person

  • Voltage: 120V
  • Wattage: 1,880W
  • Amperage: 15.67A operating draw on a 20A circuit
  • Plug: NEMA 5-20P (the wide-T-slot variant of a standard household outlet)
  • Circuit: Dedicated 120V 20A — do not share with other appliances

Equinox 3-Person

  • Voltage: 120V
  • Wattage: 2,250W
  • Amperage: 20A operating draw on a 20A circuit
  • Plug: NEMA 5-20P (the wide-T-slot variant of a standard household outlet)
  • Circuit: Dedicated 120V 20A — do not share with other appliances

Do NOT install the Equinox on a GFCI or AFCI breaker. The full-spectrum heaters can cause GFCI/AFCI breakers to trip during normal operation. A standard dedicated 20A breaker is the correct setup.

For full electrical requirements across the entire Sun Home lineup, see Electrical Requirements Overview.

Installation Clearances

  • Wall clearance: 4" minimum on all sides
  • Ceiling clearance: 12" minimum above the sauna
  • Recommended room size: 7 × 6 ft with an 8 ft ceiling
  • Power cord: 10 ft, exits from the back left of the roof (facing the sauna)

Heating Performance

  • Maximum temperature: ~155°F (typical operating temperature ~150°F)
  • Heat-up rate to 135°F: roughly 1°F per minute from room temperature
  • Heat-up rate above 135°F: 3–5 minutes per degree as the cabin approaches peak temp
  • Time to peak temperature: ~2 hours of continuous operation to reach the upper end of the range

For most sessions, plan a 15–20 minute preheat to reach a comfortable operating temperature (130–145°F), then enjoy a 30–40 minute session.

Care and Cleaning

Eucalyptus is a naturally stable hardwood well-suited to repeated heat cycles. To keep your Equinox in great shape:

  • Wipe down the interior bench and floor with a clean towel after each session.
  • Use the Sun Home Eco-Friendly Sauna Cleaner for deeper cleans — avoid solvents or bleach.
  • Air out the cabin with the door open for 10–15 minutes after a session.
  • Keep liquids off the heater panels.

Where to Buy
