The Cold Plunge Pro Apex is the pinnacle of Sun Home's cold water immersion line. It's a hard-shell plunge with an integrated ice generator, dual-pump filtration, ozone + UV sanitization, and a touchscreen control panel with Wi-Fi connectivity. Designed for indoor or outdoor installation where you have the floor support and clearance.
The Apex is heavier than other Sun Home plunges. When full, the unit exceeds 4,000 lbs. Confirm your floor or pad can support the load before delivery.

Initial Setup
Plan a 6–8 hour initial cool-down to reach optimal cold-therapy temperatures (32–50°F). Using the included insulated lid significantly reduces cool-down time and improves efficiency.
The Apex uses an Eco Mode by default: the chiller automatically ends its cooling cycle once the set temperature is reached and restarts when water temperature rises 5°F above the set point. This conserves energy and extends the unit's lifespan by preventing unnecessary cycling.
Control Panel
- Power — press for 3 seconds to switch between standby and cooling mode
- Temperature — up/down arrows adjust the set point
- Cooling indicator — blue snowflake ON means actively cooling; OFF means set temp reached; blinking means between modes
- Auto Defrost — runs automatically when in Ice Making Mode (set temp ≤37°F): cool → generate ice → defrost → repeat
- Manual Defrost — press and hold Defrost for 6 seconds to enter or exit defrost mode (only active at 32°F or below)
- Pump / Polar Jet — runs the filtration system. We recommend leaving it on between plunges to maximize water freshness; turn off while you're in the tub if you prefer still water
- Lighting — toggle the internal lighting on/off. Colors controlled by the included remote
- Parameters / Detail Settings — used for Wi-Fi pairing and advanced configuration
Do NOT change parameters in Detail Settings unless instructed. The Apex arrives pre-tuned for maximum capacity. If environmental conditions require a parameter change, contact our customer support first.
Ice Making Mode
Any set temperature at 37°F or below activates Ice Making Mode. The cycle is automatic: cool → generate ice → auto defrost → repeat.
The exact set point that generates a stable ice layer depends on your ambient temperature, water chemistry, and elevation. Start at 30°F and adjust from there based on what you observe.
Electrical Requirements
- Voltage: 120V
- Amperage: 12A operating draw
- Outlet: Standard 120V household outlet (NEMA 5-15P)
- Circuit: Dedicated, GFCI-protected
- Extension cords: Not supported
For full electrical context across the SHS lineup, see Electrical Requirements Overview.
Installation Notes
- Confirm your floor or pad supports 4,000+ lbs (the loaded weight of the unit).
- Maintain 12" clearance on sides and 36" in front for service access.
- Operating ambient temperature must stay at or below 113°F. If installing outdoors in a warm climate, plan for shade or a covered area.
- Use the insulated lid between sessions — it dramatically improves energy efficiency.
Apex vs Cold Plunge Pro at a glance
The Apex is the latest-generation Cold Plunge Pro. Compared to earlier Cold Plunge Pro hardware versions:
- Apex ships with the integrated ice generator standard
- Apex has dual-pump filtration (vs. single pump on earlier CPP units)
- Apex has both ozone injection AND UV disinfection (some earlier CPP hardware had ozone only)
- Apex has a touchscreen control panel + Wi-Fi as standard
If you're choosing between the Apex and the Cold Plunge Pro, see the Cold Plunge Buying Guide for the full comparison.
